Mateusz Moolhuizen had lost a few more, albeit smaller, pots and was down to under 1.4 million when he faced yet another button raise from Dmitry Varlamov (100,000). He responded by reraising to 240,000, and Varlamov called.
The flop came down :::4c :::9s :::5h and Moolhuizen bet out 200,000. Varlamov flat-called, and they got to see the turn.
Both players checked the :::3d turn and they got to see the river, too – the :::4d. Moolhuizen checked again, but this time Varlamov bet 300,000. Moolhuizen looked down at the 900,000 or so remaining in his stack and quietly announced all in.
He was not expecting the call from Varlamov.
“You got me,” said Moolhuizen. Varlamov peered over to see what he was up against, but Moolhuizen just repeated, “You got me.”
Varlamov: :::6s :::6c for two pair, sixes and the fours on the board
Moolhuizen: :::Qh :::7c for a total bluff
Ladies and gentlemen, Moolhuizen will have to wait at least until Cannes to raise a second Unibet Open trophy – after 143 hands at this final table and just 19 hands of heads-up play, he is out in second place, and Dmitry Varlamov is our new champion!
