Chip Conta on La Iacona – Zero
Wow, the floormen are busy today!
The latest confusion came as Giorgio La Iacona raised to 2,000 from the cutoff and Frederico Silva reraised to 5,000 on the button. La Iacona went all in for around 17,500, and here the confusion started. Silva, in violation of the English-only rule, asked the dealer for a count: “conta” in Portuguese. La Iacona heard “call” and turned his cards over – :::2h :::2s. Silva said he hadn’t called yet and the floor was called over – in the end basically unnecessarily as Silva’s cards were still live and he was always calling with :::9h :::9s.
La Iacona was gone even before the :::Jd :::3d :::Ad :::Kc :::8c board was dealt. Silva was issued with a warning about speaking in the wrong language, and is up to 58,000.
