Well that, as they say, is a wrap.
137 players tried their luck here in Prague today; of those, only47 made it through. Chip leader appears to be Petr Jelinek, representing for the host nation, on 159,800 – curiously, the exact same chip count as last night’s Day 1a chip leader Jonas Mols. We’ll have full chip counts shortly to confirm it, but it looks as though we’ll be heading into Day 2 with those two as joint chip leaders.
Other notables who made it through the Day 1b assault course include Unibet Open Online winner Henrik Hecklen, Unibet Ambassador Paul Valkenburg, UO Malta champion Dan Murariu and newly signed unibet.fr team pro Basile “Basou” Yaiche. They will join the Day 1a survivors when we reconvene at 2pm, and the whole remaining field will set off on the long road down to a final table.
Before that, though, there is the small matter of the bubble, and we’re not even that close to it – 27 places pay out, meaning that most of our Day 2 denizens will be going home with nothing but happy memories. Oh well, good thing Unibet are throwing a party tomorrow night.
Full chip counts will be with us shortly; but other than that, get some sleep. There’s going to be carnage tomorrow.
