De Korving Up the Opposition

Pieter De KorverPieter de Korver was down to just 2,000 or so at the last break – not looking good, right?

Wrong!

Mr. de Korver is now up to an almost-OK 12,000 or so! After a few turns shoving and getting no callers, de Korver shoved from the small blind over a 600 raise that had already got two calls. This time de Korver got two calls, from Tim Verbon in the big blind and from one other player across the table.

Verbon and Player 2 checked the 9-6-3, two-hearts flop, and saw an offsuit four on the turn. Verbon checked, and then folded A-T up to a bet from Player 2. De Korver turned over :::Qh :::Jh, Player 2 revealed pocket deuces – and the :::7h promptly dropped on the river, making de Korver a flush and tripling him up.

A few hands later he shoved over a 1,000 raise, and his opponent gave it up. Easy game.
