Mateusz Moolhuizen is now in serious contention to make his second Unibet Open final – he’s just doubled up twice in fairly quick succession and is right now sitting on around 330,000.
The first double up came courtesy of Dylan Gessel, who called Moolhuizen’s cutoff shove on the button. Bit of a cold deck for Gessel; happy days for Moolhuizen, though.
Gessel: :::Jc :::Jd
Moolhuizen: :::Kh :::Kd
Board: :::5h :::Ad :::Td :::6s :::4s
Moolhuizen doubled up to around 180,000, while Gessel was left with a respectable 320,000.
A round or two later, Moolhuizen min-raised to 16,000 only for Eduard Winterwerp to set him in from the small blind. Moolhuizen thought about it for a little while before announcing, “OK, let’s go,” and pushing the rest of his chips across the line.
An excellent decision, as it turned out.
Moolhuizen: :::Kh :::Qh
Winterwerp: :::9s :::9d
Board: :::7s :::Jc :::2d :::Kd :::Js
Moolhuizen thus doubled to around 330,000 – just above average. The hapless Winterwerp was left with little more than 50,000.
