Belgium pro Egi Adriaans is leading the 119 players who have made it through to Day 2 of the European Open – including 44 who survived Day 1a. Adriaans has over 410,000 chips, closely followed by Day 1a chip leader Joseph Wertz from USA who has over 305,000. Adriaans, an online qualifier to the European Open, who cashed twice at Unibet Open Riga in 2011.
There were 414 players who competed in Day 1b bringing the grand total for this European Open Special Edition to 673 players. We are close to the money at the start of Day 2 as 98 out of the remaining 119 will cash. The winner will receive $113,059 with from the $665,872 prize pool; a min cash is worth $1,984.
Ian Simpon (85,500), David Lappin (184,000) and Rauno Tahvonen (79,000) are the three Unibet Ambassador who has made it through to Day 2. Ian Simpson, the 2013 Irish Open Champion, is looking for a cash and take his live tournament earnings over the $1m mark. David Lappin has been on a heater recently having final tabled at the Unibet Poker UK Tour Nottingham in August and taking down the Unibet DSO High Roller in Vienna last week. While Rauno Tahvonen has cashed in four Unibet tournaments this year including a sixth-place finish in Unibet Open London in February. From the Unibet eSports Ambassadors, Scott ‘Sco’ McMillan, is the sole representative on 29,000.
Bust outs
There were numerous big names in Day 1b field but most were eliminated long before the end of play, including Unibet Ambassadors Dara O’Kearney, Daiva Byrne and Espen Uhlen Jørstad. Also going home empty-handed are British pro Chris Moorman, American Pro Matt Affleck plus Celtic football legend Henrik Larsson.
