Big numbers came for Day 1b of the Unibet Belgian Poker Championship 2019 €550 Main Event and created a vibrant atmosphere in the Casino Blankenberge.
When late registration closed at the end of level 8, 261 entries were clocked up, massively surpassing the 99 achieved on Day 1a.
But only one could rise to the top of the chip counts and today is Farukh Tach who bagged a mighty 368,500 to lead the 102 advancing players.
Tach is joined at the top of counts by Brian Heylen (320,000), Jan Kusters (279,500), Dutchman Mark Broers (253,000), and Frenchman Marvin Blanquart (250,500).
But not all could last the twelve levels for passage into Day 2, with the likes of Arne Coulier, Pieter Ram, Anko Hoogendijk, Tommy Lievens, Jonas Smet and Andre Zwiers all departing.
Zwiers’ elimination came late on in level 10, but the German lasted far longer than what should have been, after he was all in and behind with a set, only to hit a one outer on the river for quads. Ultimately Zwiers momentum did not last, and he was among the departed.
Unibet ambassadors Charlotte Van Brabander and David Vanderheyden gave themselves a great chance to find a bag after battling through the day well, but Van Brabander hit the rail in level 10, and Vanderheyden was confirmed as the final elimination of Day 1b in the closing minutes of play.
Day 1c Turbo is still in progress and the players that bag will join those from Day 1a and 1b at 1 pm on Saturday, August 31, with the main aim to make the money places before a battle for Day 3 commences.
A full list of the Day 2 chip counts, including those to advance from Day 1c, will be posted before the play resumes.
Join us back here for all the continued action from Blankenberge! Goodnight for now.
