Unibet Open joins forces with Unibet Online Series to create giant final weekend
The first ever online Unibet Open €1,100 Main Event online gets underway on Sunday 24th May with €200,000 guaranteed!
The Unibet Open festival marks a spectacular finale for the €1 million guaranteed Unibet Online Series VIII which launched on May 1. Unibet Open events taking place over the weekend include today’s €10,000 guarantee Unibet Open Online Bounty tournament at 7pm, a €20,000 guarantee Unibet Open Online Warm-Up tomorrow and a €2,500 guarantee #QueenRules Ladies Event on Sunday. The flagship two-day Unibet Open Main Event starts Sunday at 7pm CEST.
The Unibet Open will also include a host of special events including a two-hour set from celebrated DJ Kris Dhen to entertain players (available now via the Unibet Poker Twitter feed) and Unibet Open Ladies Talk at 5pm on Sunday. Unibet Ambassador Monica Vaka will host the Ladies Event, joined by Unibet players and Unibet’s Nataly Sopacuaperu and Kat Arnsby. The event takes place just before the start of the #QueenRules Ladies tournament and will be hosted on the MS Teams platform.
For the first time – and in keeping with the three-tier format of the Unibet Online Series, the Unibet Open will feature three buy-in levels: nano, low and the prestigious “High” event. All three tournaments kick off at 7pm on Sunday evening (UK time) with a total of €227,000 in prize pool guarantees. The “nano” costs just €1 to enter with the “low” version costing €25. Both the nano and low Main Events feature unlimited rebuys and 6k starting stacks. The “high” version costs €1,100 to enter, and features a single re-entry option with a 30k starting stack. The final Day 2 will resume at 7pm on Monday.
The festival will culminate with the first ever Unibet Open online quiz next Thursday at 20:00UTC. With great prizes on offer, the quiz will give players the chance to test their knowledge skills against fellow Unibet fans as well as Unibet Ambassadors. Capacity is limited to 1,500 players so do register now on MyQuiz.org with quiz code 228382. You can join the quiz hosts David Lappin and Kat Arnsby via the Unibet Poker Twitch stream; you can chat, interact, or just answer the questions!
The Unibet Online Series (UOS) continues all weekend with the last event scheduled for 8.30pm on Sunday night. A total of 132 events will have been held by the time the Series ends with more than a €1 million in prize pool guarantees. All UOS winners win a seat into the exclusive €5,000 Champions Showdown freeroll taking place next Wednesday (May 27.)

Unibet Ambassador David Lappin said: “The Unibet Online Series has been a huge success with the €1,000,000 in guarantees being totally smashed! Credit to our team for the hard work and agility necessary to make such a smooth transition to our digital platform. There’s a real sense that we have been building to something special with the Unibet Open and I’m really looking forward to playing it.”
Fellow Ambassador Dara O’Kearney pointed out that there are still numerous chances for players to win their way into the Unibet Open Main Event. He said: “There are still a lot of satellite qualifiers for the Unibet Open online including centrolls and €1, €2 and €4 turbos. It would be great to hear a fairy tale story of somebody hitting a huge score after buying in for just one cent!”
Unibet was quick to take steps to protect staff and players during the pandemic. In early March, it announced that Unibet Open Tallinn would be held online and last month it was also announced that all 2020 Unibet Open land-based live events would now be taking place online – re-homed within the independent online poker client.
Nataly Sopacuaperu, Unibet’s Head of Events & Sponsorship, said: “Hosting the Unibet Open online is a huge step for us but we have been bowled over by the support from players, and the number of players who have already taken part in the Online Series.
“All our Online Series tournaments have smashed their guarantees and we’re now anticipating a massive turnout for the Unibet Open Main Event. This new online edition promises to be a lot of fun and the three-tier format means it’s accessible to a very wide range of players. All our events this year will now be held online – from IRL to URL – with Fall and Winter Unibet Opens to be held later on in 2020.”
