Frederic Van Der Mersch was tanking. He’d just fired out a bet of 1,200 on the turn of a :::Ks:::Qc:::4c:::7d board, around a half-pot bet, into Redjep Kurti. For his part the Finn had taken about a minute before sliding out three blue chips and two reds, a raise to 4,000 in total. Van Der Mersch studied the board, then Kurti’s stack, the board a second time and finally the ultimate tell of folding – he checked his cards.
Soon enough, they went into the muck and Kurti gleefully picked up the pot.
