Frédéric Moreau open-shoved for an actually still rather hefty 11,000; a couple seats to his left Funda La Iacona reshoved for 16,000 or so. It folded around to Ian Simpson in the small blind, who made the call.

The various pots and side pots were a little beyond the dealer; Simpson called out instructions to him and within a minute or two it had all been sorted out. “Deal a king and get it over with,” he grinned at the dealer once all the chips had been placed in their correct piles.

La Iacona, who had already gathered her belongings to leave, claiming that she had “no luck”, suddenly lucked out and more than doubled up to around 40,000. Moreau meanwhile is no more; Simpson is still doing just fine on 40,000.
