Unibet Poker Belgian Championship 2019 - Main Event (Day 2) 024 Glenn Laureys ((C) Tambet Kask 2019)

And then there was nine! The Unibet Belgian Poker Championship €550 Main Event has reached its unofficial final table with just nine souls in contention of winning the title and the €41,980 first-place prize!

Over three starting flights, the Main Event clocked up an impressive 419 entries and created a 209,500 prize pool

After over 12 hours of exhilarating poker action today at the Casino Blankenberge, Glenn Laureys rose to the summit and bagged the overnight chip lead on 4,370,000.

Leandro Gaone follows behind with 3,735,000, and Dutchman Dennis Kleinleugemors completes the top three stacks on 2,955,000.

Bart Vandeweghe (2,695,000), Justin Herboldt (2,170,000), William ‘HensiePensie’ Hens (pictured below) (1,750,000), Bart Van Dijk (1,525,000), Kamel Djemai (1,000,000), and Benjamin Truyens (850,000) complete the line-up.

Each player already has a minimum €4,030 locked up, but it will be the spot in the winner’s photo that they will have their sights set on when the action resumes at 1 pm on Sunday, September 1.

Day 2 Action

When Day 2 kicked-off 171 players returned intending to reach the 55 money spot places.

Among those to exit in the early stages was Unibet ambassador Charlotte Van Brabander followed by the shock elimination of Day 1b chip leader Farukh Tach just two hours into the action.

As the numbers dropped at a rapid pace, the play became increasingly important as the money bubble approached. Ultimately it was to be Matthijs Baudewijn who missed out on cash in his pocket in 56th place after his nut flush draw on the flop never came to fruition. Baudewijn did, however, walk away with a champagne gift from Unibet for his efforts as the players congratulated themselves on cashing.

Belgium all-time money list #2 Pierre Neuville, Davy Huyst, Dehlia De Jong, Michael Altena, Miguel Coussement, Michael Gobbe, and Lars Meysman were all able to collect prizes for their efforts this weekend before the final elimination of the day saw Yves Terrier depart in 11th place for €3,500 after running ace-nine into ace-king.

It was another fun-filled day in Blankenberge for many, with Unibet’s famous #QueenRules event also again on showcase.

Join us back here from 1 pm tomorrow for all the final table action as a champion is crowned!
