Among the players who took to the felt today but failed to progress to Day 2 were online legend Viktor “Isildur” Blom, Unibet Ambassadors Paul Valkenburg and Dan Glimne and Unibet Open Cannes champion Quentin Lecomte.
Those who did make it through from today are led by Irish Open organiser Stephen McLean, on 309,200. That will be good enough for second place overall when players from the two start days combine into a single Day 2 field at noon tomorrow. The top spot will be occupied by Day 1a chip leader Nathan Dippie on 356,500. Other players who survived today include two-time Unibet Open finalist Tomasz Kozub (119,500), Mike “Da Bookie” Hill (66,800) and European poker circuit veteran Martin Wendt (42,000). Full chip counts from Day 1b may be viewed here, and the Day 1a survivors’ counts may be enjoyed here.
The 72 Day 1b survivors plus the 68 from Day 1a mean that we are looking at a 140-strong field for Day 2. The plan is to play right down to a final table, so we could be in for a long one. I’ll be on the floor from the shuffle-up-and-deal at noon right down to the bagging-and-tagging come bedtime, bringing you all the action from this mammoth Unibet Open Main Event, while the live stream will be bringing you close coverage of a selected feature table from 2pm. Until tomorrow, goodnight, and good luck.
