Mateusz Moolhuizen has not had an excellent post-prandial poker session so far – he’s lost a quarter of the stack he had at the dinner break, and looks pretty glum.
The damage was done all in one go by Jorge Carvalho, Moolhuizen’s opponent on a :::5c :::6s :::7c flop. It looked as though Carvalho had checked the flop to Moolhuizen, who bet 2,350 into a roughly 4k pot. But Carvalho now check-raised to 7,700, and after a lengthy period of consideration, Moolhuizen made the call.
They saw a :::4s river and Carvalho wasted no time in shipping his remaining chips across the line. Moolhuizen made a face like he was chewing on a wasp (wasps thankfully not on tonight’s buffet!) and folded. He and Carvalho are now on around 31,000 apiece, but feeling very different about their respective stacks.
