Dan Murariu had been doing such a good job of recovering from the brink, when this happened.
Paul Askamp in the small blind: :::As :::Qs
Murariu in the big: K-J
Board: Q-7-9-A-K
The stacks were counted, and while Askamp doubled up to 170,000, Murariu was left with 12,000. Yup, 12,000. A blind and a half.
Next hand, Murariu called all in with :::Jc :::4c to a raise from Mohamed Razab-Sekh holding :::5s :::5c. He was behind, but somehow managed to hit enough on the :::8d :::Jh :::9s :::8h :::4h board to save his skin, securing a double up to 35,000.
And next hand, he did it again! Open-shoving from the button with :::Kc :::5d, he got a call from Tobias Peters in the big blind holding :::3c :::4s. Peters spiked on the flop, but Murariu re-spiked on the turn of the :::2h :::4h :::Jd :::Ks :::8c board and is now at 80,000 – not out of the woods yet by any means, but now just one double up away from a decent stack instead of three.
