Murariu’s Downfall

Dan Murariu’s third Unibet Open title will have to wait some more because he was just knocked out. The Romanian professional lost two all ins in one orbit, one of which we managed to catch from the start.

Paolo Rodrigues moved all in under the gun for 8,600 and Murariu re-shoved from the button for about 12,000 more. Both blinds folded and the showdown went as following.

Murariu: :::Ad :::7d
Rodrigues: :::8s :::8c

The board ran out :::Kh :::9h :::8d :::7s :::As and despite Murariu hitting two pair it was Rodrigues who doubled up with a set. When the button came around to Murariu again he decided to put his final 12 big blinds at risk with :::Js :::9s. Manuel Gonilho made the call from the big blind with :::Ax :::Jx off suit and his hand managed to hold up.
