No Victory for Vik

Ronny Vik, who will probably already be familiar to anyone who attended last night’s Welcome Drinks owing to his clearly having had more fun than most, has bitten the tournament dust.

Vik – not looking at all the worse for wear in the picture on the right – got what was left of his stack in on the turn of a :::5c :::Jc :::6d :::Ts board with :::6c :::7c for a small pair and a flush draw. However, he soon found himself up against Marcianno Yvel’s :::Ac :::Td for a better pair. The flush and in fact any other miracle cards failed to come in on the :::8h river and while Yvel increased his stack to around 40,000, Vik was gone.

I suspect we’ll see Mr. Vik at the player party tomorrow night…
