Roger Screwed

_DSC8977.jpgThe board read :::4d :::Qh :::Ts :::8s and Jean-Marc Achiary bet out 2,100. Roger Hairabedian flat-called – but Alain Makarian now shoved for 9,425. Exciting stuff – but there was more excitement to come.

Achiary reraised to 22,100, and Hairabedian had a serious decision to make. He dwelled up for a while – his dwelling interrupted by having to stand up to let a new player into the corner seat – and after some time, he went all in. Achiary called all in, and the three turned their cards over.

Hairabedian: :::Qd :::Tc for two pair
Achiary: :::4c :::4s for a set
Makarian: :::Ks :::Js for all manner of flush and straight draws

River: :::Ah, bringing in Makarian’s straight.

Makarian got the main pot, tripling up to an extremely respectable 35,000. The 45,000 side pot went to Achiary, meaning that he still made a good profit on the hand, although he looked as though he would have preferred to win the lot. Poor old Hairabedian though – he dropped from over 40,000 right down to under 7,000. The end-of-level beeping started just as the hand ended and he stood up, thinking it was the dinner break – but Hairabedian’s woes continued, as it was just level-up and he still has an hour to go on that front. Unless, of course, he can shed his last few thousand chips before then.
