Stieven Razab-Sekh folded his button, and in the small blind Ruggiero Scommegna raised to 97,000. Filip Verboven called in the big blind, and they saw a flop.
Scommegna bet out on the flop – and indeed on the turn, and again on the river. Each time the bet increased, as the amount of time he spent tanking up before acting. By the river of the :::9s :::Td :::3h :::Qh :::8s board, the pot had reached almost 900,000, and the bet from Scommegna was 320,000.
Verboven, who had called Scommegna’s 129,000 bet on the flop and another 210,000 on the turn, decided that this last on the river was too much. He folded, and the enormous pot went to Scommegna. While Verboven is still technically in the lead, there now isn’t much between his 2.2 million and the Italian’s 2.1 million. Razab-Sekh remains resolutely in third place, on just 646,000.
