The second day of play started with 140 players and just 16 hopefuls remain after ten epic levels. Among the contenders we’ve spotted many Unibet Open regulars, including former runner ups Tim van de Riet (919,000) and Tomasz Kozub (1,177,000). Both professionals know what it takes to be successful on the Unibet Open, as they’ve got two final tables under their belt, and tomorrow could be the biggest day of their live poker career.
For many players however the second day of play wasn’t as great, because the likes of Micke Coriander, Marc Inizan and Vincent Gabel were knocked out. Just 45 players eventually made the money and Espen Jørstad was the first to receive a payout, as he took home £1,800.
Top UK pro Martins Adeniya finished in 43rd place and overall Day 1 chip leader Nathan Dippie busted out in 39th place for £3,900. Among the other contenders on Day 3 we’ve got French pro Adrien Allain who won WPT Amneville in 2011 and APT Macau in 2009.
The remaining players are guaranteed at least £3,400 but everyone’s eying the £70,000 first-place prize. Please tune back in tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. local London time, when the blog and the live stream resume and ultimately the final table will be broadcast with hole cards up.
Up until then we would like to wish you a good night!
