Unibet Open is seeing 2017 out in style with a return visit to stunning Bucharest. The four-day festival got underway yesterday and runs through to Sunday, 3rd December at the stunning JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. This is the final stop of the year and celebrates the tour’s 10th anniversary.
Following on from last year’s amazing debut in the Romanian capital, Unibet is expecting players to turn out in force this year as well. The exciting schedule features 11 different tournaments. As well as the €1,000 + €100 Main Event, there’s also a two-day €2,000 + €200 High Roller plus several other side events including a €200 + €20 Turbo Bounty tournament, €100 + €10 Ladies Event and €300 + €20 NLH Deepstack. There are also three live satellites for the Main Event taking place at the Marriott as well as a high roller satellite.
Main Event
There were 167 players who entered Day 1a of the Main Event today including Unibet Ambassadors Daiva Byrne and Espen Uhlen Jørstad. Jorstad joined the Day 1a field after busting the High Roller but was eliminated fairly early. Byrne was eliminated by Cash Game Festival organiser Martin von Zweigbergk shortly after the players got back from dinner. There are currently around 75 players left.
The overall field in the Main Event includes some 200 players who qualified online on www.unibet.co.uk/poker. They won full prize packages worth €2,000 which included their Main Event buy-in, hotel accommodation for four nights and €250 towards travel expenses.
