Supermoon replaces Unibet Poker UK Tour with all live UK tour tickets valid for entry
Unibet Poker is thrilled to announce the launch of Supermoon, an exciting new monthly online Multi Table Tournament that comes with a €40,000 guarantee.
The €250 buy-in Supermoon Bounty is a two-day event starting on the first Sunday of every month, with the first one starting on May 2. Backed by a huge qualifier schedule, Supermoon will be the largest regularly recurring tournament that Unibet Poker has ever hosted and is certain to become a regular fixture on every poker player’s calendar.
Unibet Ambassador David Lappin said: “Dara, Ian and myself have been lobbying for this bad boy for ages! With no live Unibet Events in 2021, the Unibet faithful need to get their whistles wet once a month with something juicier. This is going to be a great addition to the schedule!”
The Supermoon tournament is replacing the Unibet UK Poker Tour which ran for four and a bit seasons before brought to an untimely end by the pandemic in 2020. It’s fitting that the final UK Tour event – held at Aspers Casino in Stratford last March – had the biggest turnout the tour had ever had. A total of 714 entries created a record prize pool of £141,372, nearly three times the £50k guarantee. The tournament was won by British player Lawrence Cullen for £25,500 with Unibet Ambassador David Lappin, James Mitchell, William Kassouf and Unibet’s former Head of Poker David Pomroy among the 80 players who cashed.
Nataly Sopacuaperu, Unibet’s Head of Events, said: “We really loved the UK tour but, with COVID likely having an impact on all live poker for the foreseeable future, we don’t want our players to miss out. Supermoon is going to be something truly special with an amazing qualifier schedule; there will be tons of satellites running round the clock starting from as a little as two cents. UK Tour fans should also rest assured that all current UK Tour tickets will either be converted to bonus points or Supermoon tickets, depending on their value.”
The first Supermoon starts at 19.00 BST on May 2. Every player will get a 6,000 starting stack and there will be late reg and a single rebuy option for the first eight levels.
Satellites and qualifiers for the first Supermoon are already live on the Unibet Poker client with a new satellite tree that looks like this: 2c (Flips only) -> 40c (Flips & Normal) -> €2 (Flips and Normal) -> €10 (Normal) -> €50 (Normal) -> €250. Players should also keep their eye out for a load of free Supermoon tickets up for grabs via special promotions and welcome offers.
In the beginning, Unibet Poker will be running two weekly finals with a four-ticket guaranteed tournament every Wednesday and an eight-ticket guarantee event on Sundays. UK tour tickets will either be converted to bonus points or Supermoon tickets as follows:

While lamenting the demise of the Unibet UK Tour, many Unibet regulars in the Unibet Community forum have welcomed the new event. DoktorAvalanche wrote: “It’s a shame to see the back of the UK Tour. I was lucky enough to get to two of the live events and they were a lot of fun. But I can see why this has been done given uncertainty over travelling.” Unibet Ambassador Ian Simpson wrote: “Sounds exciting!” while FreedoM wrote: “This is Awesome!”
