Up & Down for Lappas

UO_London_2014_Tambet_Kask_ME_Final_Table-4.jpgBabis Lappas has been on a bit of a roller coaster of late.

First, a little victory. Janos Kurtosi had raised with :::Th :::8h under the gun when Lappas reraised with :::Kh :::7h on the button. Kurtosi made a very speculative call, but then check-folded on the :::Qh :::Kc :::7c flop where Lappas had picked up two pair.

Next, a hit. Paulo Rodrigues raised with :::Ad :::2d in the hijack and Lappas called with :::Kc :::Qs in the cutoff to see a :::Th :::7s :::Ac flop – top pair for Rodrigues, but nothing more than a gutshot for Lappas. Nevertheless, Lappas called Rodrigues’ bet and they continues. However, the 180k bet from Rodrigues on the :::8h turn proved too much for Lappas and he gave it up, sending the pot Rodrigues’ way.

Soon after, Lappas raised with a very reasonable :::Ac :::Ts from the hijack, only for Iaron Lightbourne to reraise from the cutoff with a cheeky :::Qc :::3c. Lappas was undeterred, though – he four-bet, and Lightbourne finally thought better of it and folded.
