Varlamov Moves into the Lead
Dmitry Varlamov is up to 1.6 million after relieving Zbigniew Wieczorek of some surplus chips.
Wieczorek opened to 50,000 from the button and Varlamov reraised to 144,000 in the big blind. Wieczorek sighed but made the call anyway, and they saw a flop.
Both players checked the :::Kd :::Tc :::As and they continued directly to the :::2s turn. Varlamov now bet out 110,000 and, after a pause of perhaps 10 seconds, Wieczorek called.
Both players reverted to checking the :::5s river and Varlamov matter-of-factly turned over :::Ah :::Jh. It was enough to make Wieczorek muck, and Varlamov took the pot putting him to the aforementioned sum of 1.6 million. Wieczorek is now down to 1.1 million or so.
